The walkers

To all those who are following our programme and keeping up to date with our walking routes, different Kilometers and stories to share, here is another one which is a NOT TO BE MISSED!

So last Saturday we met at 9:30am near Qawra Church and our plan was to walk to Golden Bay and back, which we thought was round about 14KM, including both ways. We met, all geared up thanks to NIKE and URBAN JUNGLE (Tigne Point) and off we went. The sun was shining, we were full of energy and the walk was superb. Using the NIKE + pedometer, I soon realised that the walk from Qawra to Golden Sands was 10K (one way) so after stopping for tea at Golden Bay, we decided that we are quitting for the day and we’re taking the bus back to Qawra so we can all head home. We were on the bus stop for around 20 minutes and when the first bus came, no.23, we hopped on it, thinking we’ll be stopping in St.Paul’s Bay. The bus went through Mgarr, Gnejna and Zebbiegh. My dearest walking buddies, Moira Delia and Mariella Scerri decided to nap and I kept following this route sitting quietly on my seat. All was fine until the bus started heading to Mosta and there was no way possible it was going to head to St.Paul’s Bay. I turned to Moira, woke her up and told her ‘Moi, this bus is not going to St.Paul’s Bay’! She got up ok but didn’t quite realize what I just told her and with Mariella still asleep, I headed towards the driver to ask what’s going on.

Looks like we got the wrong bus so with Moira half asleep and Mariella still in Cloud 9 we hopped off the bus. We were told to cross to the other side and get Bus no.31 which will take us to Qawra. But being so brave, Moira and myself decided to convince Mariella that the route to Qawra is very short and we can easily do it.  So we jogged all the way from Mosta to Qawra!

What a tour :) Thank God it was a bright sunny shinning day (the only one in what seems like weeks!) which made all this pleasant :)

Now, we’re all set and geared up for this Sunday’s Walkathon from Mdina to Spinola and there will be no buses to take and no teas on the way so let’s go girls! :)
